A Texas Superintendent Makes A Public Statement Regarding His Schools Position on Transgender Students; Including His Religious Beliefs!
A statement by John Kelly (the Superintendent of Pearland I.S.D.) has the district and top administrator answering tough questions. Last week several leaders of Houston-suburb school district responded to President Obama’s “Guidance Letter” regarding the use of bathrooms by transgender students.
The statement released to the public details Kelly’s position on transgender students, adding his political and religious beliefs.
“A hostile vocal minority now rules in America aided by an apathetic, unengaged majority. What’s next? Legalizing pedophilia and polygamy,” Kelly states. “Unless we return to the Biblical basis on which our nation’s laws were established, we are in serious trouble — and cannot expect God’s continued favor,” Kelly adds.
The community, and students of Pearland I.S.D. have taken to the web, and Change.org seeking Kelly to apologize.
‘Kelly made some incredibly offensive remarks regarding the LGBT community in the Pearland Journal,’ writes Michael Alvarez; the creator of the Change.org petition. ‘It would be one thing if Kelly held political office, but he doesn’t. He is a nonpartisan figure, and as such, should not publicly comment on such controversial issues.’
Pearland is the seventh-fastest growing city in the United States.
