(HOUSTON) People might associate Texas with yellow roses or bluebonnets, but this year an unmistakably different flower is taking over the state. Houston-based drag entertainer Violet S’Arbleu, née Jacob Chaput, will shower the Lone Star State with a purple reign as the newly crowned Miss Gay Texas America.

“The Miss Gay Texas America legacy is 43 years of stellar, inspirational entertainers,” he says, “and honestly I’m just so humbled and thrilled to have the honor to join those ranks and represent the system this year.”

Gay Texas Teen Gets Emotional Surprise From Davey Wavey

Watch LGBT YouTube Star Davey Wavey’s Emotional Surprise For An LGBT Teen From El Paso, Texas.

(HOUSTON) The hottest thing on YouTube these days, Superstar Davey Wavey, made a special trip to Texas recently to meet a very special fan and surprise him with the most amazing gift.

Team Wavey and Drag Race gal-pal Alaska ThunderFuck teamed with Pure for Men to surprise ‘Angel’, a 6’4”, makeup-wearing, a nineteen-year-old gay boy from El Paso, Texas.

Angel, a superfan of both Wavey, and Thunderfuck; traveled to Houston to be surprised on stage in front of thousands at Houston’s Pride Festival.

“As you can imagine, his life hasn’t been easy. So we decided to surprise him with his own float in the Houston Pride Parade,” Wavey said via his Facebook page.

Working with Houston Pride and in conjunction with Pure for Men, Wavey and Thunderfuck were able to pull off the biggest surprises ‘Angel’ had ever been dealt, an opportunity to be himself in front of nearly 750,000 people as he rode in the parade aboard his own float.

“I often get emails from queer people in smaller cities and towns who don’t have a lot of community,” Wavey told HuffPost in an email. “They can feel alone, isolated and like they don’t fit in ― that’s especially true if you’re 6′4″, from Texas and walk around with a full face of makeup.”

Week 1 of Dessie’s Drag Race Starts Off With a Bang

Week 1 of Dessies Drag Race Starts Off With a Bang

Dessie’s Drag Race Season 10 Premier Takes Houston By Storm And Delivers The Best Season Ever!

(Houston) – Dessie’s Drag Race Season 10 kicked off this Monday at Rich’s Houston and it just might be the best season yet. The first challenge for the contestants was to perform a cartoon number of their choice. From Wonder Woman to Beauty and the Beast, these girls and guy did not disappoint.

“I think we are off to a great start. I really enjoyed the extra touches that were added this season with the video screen and audience contest. Can’t wait to see what next week holds” -Dessie Love Blake

Each unique in their own right, they brought costumes and production for days. Our favorites from week 1 went to Roofie Dubois, Mistress Isabelle and Richard Long. The judges ultimately chose Roofie, Mistress and Nyx Laraye who landed at number 4 on our list. Roofie Dubois ended up winning the night and rightfully so. Her character was perfectly selected and the lip sync and song choices in her mix made her the clear winner. Our choices for bottom 3 were Tesse Laraye, Tisha Flowers and Carmen Getsum but the judges decided on Fancy Phresh, Vitamin B and also Tesse. Dessie decided to keep all of the girls in the end but was very clear about her expectations going into week 2.

“Roofie and Mistress definitely won the night and I am so excited to watch this season because they have such an eclectic group!” -Blackberri, Winner of Season 8

The hot topic of the night wasn’t necessarily the contestants but the change in venue this season. After moving it to a few different bars/clubs over the years, I think it is safe to say that Rich’s Houston is by far the greatest venue yet. From the sickening stage to the amazing lights and sound system, Rich’s has finally given the contestants a venue where they can showcase their talents to the highest level. Come out every Monday night to Rich’s Houston at 10 p.m. and catch all your favorite contestants as they compete to be the next winner of Dessie’s Drag Race!
