A Heartbroken Texas Man Has Learned He Will Not Be Welcome At His Partners Funeral As The Family Redacts Him From Obituary

(Updated: 3:04p.m.) An East Texas man is heartbroken because he claims the family of his fiancé is unwilling to allow his attendance, or final ‘goodbye’ at his partner’s funeral. The family says that ‘just isn’t true. You are welcome to attend.’

The news of the tragic death of Cody Lane Livingston, 23, of Sour Lake, Texas, set state LGBT news sites on fire earlier this week after Livingston was found unresponsive in a ‘holding cell,’ of the Hardin County Jail after being taken into custody for an outstanding ‘minor’ warrant.

About News learned the Livingston family wants the LGBTQ+ community to know that:  ‘the Livingston family would like anyone that loved Cody, to attend his funeral.’  Arista Argueta, a close friend of Cody, who is transgender told us. “The family has known of Cody’s lifestyle and is supportive, if you want to attend, you can. Anyone can!”

Tanner Moore, the fiancé of Livingston emotionally explains their journey of love, commitment, and their plans to finally wed in November, which was cut short. The family of Livingston has shut out and ostracized Moore, and has erased the existence of his partner in his obituary.

Argueta states “that’s not entirely true, [he] is more than welcome to attend the service,” and notes that one thing is certain. “Cody was a gentle heart, and good person. His death has saddened us all.”

“It still infuriates me that [his] family is unwilling to include me because they have a hard time accepting his sexuality.” Moore claims. “He was and is still my whole world and I will always fight for him.”

The Texas Rangers have officially launched an investigation into the ‘in custody’ death of Livingston that occurred on August 26th, 2017 after Livingston was taken into custody on a warrant.

Cody Livingston’s funeral will be held on Saturday August 3, 2016 at Broussard’s Mortuary at 2000 Mcfadden, Beaumont ,  TX 77701  at 2:00p.m.

The death of a 23-year old man in Hardin County, Texas has caused Texas Rangers to launch official investigation.

The Texas Rangers have officially launched an investigation into the ‘in custody’ death of Cody Lane Livingston, 23, while in custody of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at approximately 6:00a.m. DPS was notified of a possible crash near Sour Lake. (Sour Lake is about 1 hour north-east of Houston.)

DPS explains that it determined there was no crash, but suspected Livingston was driving while intoxicated. DPS explains a field sobriety test was conducted but failed to release results. Instead, Livingston was booked into the jail for an outstanding warrant.

Hardin County Sheriff Ed Cain explains that ‘Livingston was booked into the Hardin County Jail at 7:30 a.m. and had no outward signs of injury as he was booked.’

DPS states ‘Livingston was found unresponsive in a jail cell’ and transported to St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Beaumont, Texas, where he was pronounced dead.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Tanner Moore, Livingston’s boyfriend. “It was hard to believe, because he was just here with me the other day helping me move.” He said the two saw each other Friday night at Moore’s residence in the Lufkin area.

According to Moore, on Saturday “I tried to call him, probably called him 3 to 5 times. He didn’t answer, and he said ‘I’m at a bar in Houston.”

Friends have set up a GoFund Me Page to help the family with expenses.

Following  Cosby’s arrest, Britney Cosby’s mother told KHOU that he “didn’t like the idea of her being gay.” Cosby’s mother also told the The Houston Chronicle: “He would throw it in her face,” adding that her daughter quoted  Cosby as saying, “Don’t throw that gay (expletive) around in this house.”

James Cosby had been released from prison in October 2013, where he served time for failing to register as a sex offender after being convicted two decades before of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman.
