Leaving the popular downtown club Barbarella on ‘Tuesgayz,’ Robert Foster and a friend, both drag performers were attacked.

Foster explained their attacker punched him in the head; knock out a tooth, and then running him over in a car. Resulting in a broken leg.

“What comes to mind is that this is like a pattern. This needs to be stopped,” Foster told KTBC-TV. “If it is a pattern we need better security around the bars and the clubs people need to know just because it hasn’t happened to you yet, it can.”

In a separate incident, across Austin, Oscar Zavaleta was assaulted by two men outside Bout Time II, an LGBT bar on Austin’s north side.

Zavaleta suffered a broken nose and a black eye.

HOUSTON Oct 5 — The time for TRUTH has come to Houston. The T.R.U.T.H Project kicks off its annual fundraiser In Houston on Oct. 22, 12016 in Montrose. Entitled We Are Gold will be held at Zimm’s Martini & Wine Bar.

The T.R.U.T.H. Project (Telling Real Unapologetic Truths through Healing) is a 501c3 charitable organization that educates and mobilizes LGBTQ communities of color and their allies through social arts that promote mental, emotional and sexual health. The impact on the community is very surreal said Founder Kevin Anderson.

“It’s humbling to have the support of artists and healthcare providers who understand the vision for using the arts as a tool for healing through information, education, and access to resources,” Anderson said.

This year’s fundraiser will include a montage of video clips from previous installments and live demonstrations of spoken word, live music, and visual art to showcase how the T.R.U.T.H. Project connects art and health.

Since its inception, The T.R.U.T.H Project has reached more than 5,000 attendees and continues to grow. Performances are held quarterly and have addressed issues such as bullying, domestic violence, and depression. The Texas State Department of Health recognized the efforts of the T.R.U.T.H. Project and its founder, Kevin Anderson, to use the arts as a vehicle for information, awareness, and access to resources, and awarded a grant that allowed him to extend his outreach by partnering with national recording artist such as Marsha Ambrosius and Chisette Michele. He has also served as a consultant in other cities interested in starting similar initiatives.

Known Anti-LGBTQ Hate Group Plans Pickets At Montrose Center And Gender Infinity Conference For Friday!

The fundamentalist and LGBTQ+ hate group, Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) has announced its members plan to picket The Montrose Center in Montrose, and the Gender Infinity Conference at the University of Houston on Friday.

WBC, arguably the most obnoxious and rabid hate group in America announced their ‘God H8s Trannies’ tour will land on Friday, September 16 at the Montrose Center. They claim the LGBT+ community center is an “oozing, purulent sore of sodomite contagion: pushing proud sin and the proliferation of incurable disease.”

According to WBC’s website the planned picket will occur at the Montrose Center, located at 401 Branard St. from 11:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. The group then will travel to the University of Houston to picket the Gender Conference from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

WBC is known for its harsh anti-LGBTQ+ beliefs and the crude signs its members carry at their frequent protests. When gay student Matthew Shepard died of injuries inflicted in a brutal hate crime in Laramie, Wyo. WBC was vaulted to worldwide infamy as they protested Shepard’s funeral. Members picketed carrying signs that read “God Hates Fags” and “AIDS Kills Fags Dead.”
