LGBT Protesters To Hold Dance Party Outside Texas Governor’s Mansion

Forget Oilcan Harry’s, Richs, South Beach or any other bar or club. The hottest LGBT dance party probably won’t be in one of those spaces. Instead it will be outside Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s mansion window.

HOUSTONFEB 21 —Hundreds of people have expressed interest and have signed up to protest outside the Texas governor’s mansion on Thursday in Austin against bills that threaten the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

As of Tuesday afternoon nearly 800 supporters have RSVP’d on Facebook to attend the dance party from 6pm to 9pm on the east side of the Governor’s Mansion at 1010 Colorado St.

Thursday’s event called Queer Dance Freakout at the Governor’s Mansion.

“It’s such a shame it’s been misused for so many years so turning it into a gay bar for a night seems like a proper use of this gorgeous architecture.”

Event organizers say the goal is to show opposition to what is considered anti-LGBT legislation, particularly so-called transgender bathroom bills — Senate Bill 6 and House Bill 1362. The bills would prohibit public schools from letting transgender children use multistall bathrooms that conform with their gender identity. State government buildings also would be barred from creating transgender-friendly bathrooms, and cities and counties would be prohibited from requiring bathrooms that accommodate transgender individuals.

“We say NO to marriage equality limitations. We say NO to old men saying what we can and cannot do,” according to the Facebook event description. “We say NO to anti-transgender bathroom bills. We say YES to shaking our asses. We say YES to the freedoms of the body.”

Our Eye-Candy Eyewitness hunk is no stranger to recognition for his on-screen sex appeal. In 2014 People Magazine honored Barajas as a ‘finalist’ for ‘Hottest Anchors.’

Stunningly though, before his ‘huge arms’ grabbing the spotlight it was his ‘do,’ as in hairdo. Yes! According to KTRK-ABC 13, Barajas won the ‘Hairry Award,’ an award that honors the best male anchor ‘hair’ in Texas.

No other Texas news anchor landed anywhere on the Top 50 list below #35.
