HOUSTON, Tx. Sept. 21 — A respected Houston Press Investigative Reporter was robbed at gunpoint in the Montrose community by a group of teenage boys. The suspects managed to get the Reporter’s computer, cell phone, and purse before fleeing the scene.
Meagan Flynn, of the Houston Press found herself on the opposite side of the news after leaving Campesino coffeehouse at the corner of Waugh Drive and Missouri Street.
Flynn managed to get back to the coffeehouse unharmed and called police. Her description of the suspects allowed the Montrose Patrol to quickly identify the fleeing vehicle. Houston Police pursued in a chase that trailed from Montrose into the Heights, after a brief foot chase, the suspects were captured.
“I had always thought I would be a fighter; that, if not by overpowering an attacker with strength, I would with smarts: strategically elbowing him in the gut, strategically kicking him in the nuts,” Flynn describes in a self-published article on the Houston Press website.
