Houston Face Awards

HOUSTON — LGBTQ+ Houston’s biggest award show announced the official nominations today for the 2017 FACE Awards to be held South Beach the Nightclub in Montrose on Thursday, November 16, 2017. The FACE Awards are presented by Avenue 360 Health & Wellness, South Beach the Nightclub and CBS Radio Houston’s Mix 96.5FM.

The official nominations can be viewed here. Official voting opens at 8 PM tonight after the announcements and will continue until November 8, 2017. You can cast your official vote here starting at 8 PM.

2017 brings new categories and new nominees with over twenty-one categories for the community to vote. Some of the new categories include Chef of the Year and Inspiring Hero of the Year. Also included are two newly named awards, The ‘Jimmy Carper Trailblazer Award’ and the ‘Alexander Hill Humanitarian Award,’ both named after people from the LGBT community.

F.A.C.E. Awards stands for First Achievers in Community Excellence, and each year our Heroes’ and Icons’ work hard in pursuit of special causes. Each year a volunteer works hard, a politician gets a law or ordinance passed; a new business opens its doors to the community. Maybe it’s a photographer, a drag performer, a bartender, or a hair stylist – they are all doing their part in Houston seeking equality.

Mix 96.5 FM Morning Show hosts Sarah Pepper, Lauren Kelly, and Geoff Sheen will host Houston’s VMA style award show. Joining them as presenters will be a lengthy list of politicians, TV and radio personalities, Emmy® winners and The Voice contestants. The FACE Awards will officially announce the presenters in the following week.

Joey Guerra, Music Editor and Joy Sewing, Fashion Editor of the Houston Chronicle return to host ‘LIVE‘ from the Red Carpet, a pre-show that highlights the red carpet arrivals of nominees, past winners, and community leaders starting at 7 PM and will be broadcast live on multiple social media platforms.

Now celebrating its sixth year, the F.A.C.E. Awards stands for First Achievers in Community Excellence, a yearly award show honoring Houston’s LGBTQ community. The LGBT event is attended by some 600+ LGBTQ community members that honor their peers.
